GREGORIAN MASSES FOR SOULS IN PURGATORY

¡Requesting Gregorian Masses is easy!

What are the Gregorian Masses?

The Gregorian Masses for the dead is a religious practice of European origin, which is celebrated without any interruption during the 30 days after the death of a person, being these a ceremony with which its believers infuse with their devotion the path of the soul of the deceased towards the Father, under the acclamation of the Eucharistic sacrifice of Christ on earth for the salvation of the world through sin.

Can these Masses be offered by more than one soul?

No. These Masses are to be offered for only one soul, especially those who have recently passed away.

Do I have to give anything for a Gregorian Mass to be offered? How much does the Gregorian Mass cost?

The person makes a donation, called a stipend, to a priest or Religious Community for the celebration of Mass for a specific intention.

By making this offer, the person becomes more intimately united to Christ who offered himself in the Sacred Host, in order to obtain more abundant fruits. (Letter from Pope Paul VI “Firma in Traditione” on June 13, 1974).

Offering a stipend is also a way in which the Catholic contributes to the service of the priest of the diocese or religious community.

The proposed donation to commission a mass is $ 25.000. Colombian pesos.

The 30 consecutive Gregorian Masses have a total cost of: $ 750.000. Colombian pesos.

The 30 consecutive Gregorian Masses have a total cost in US dollars of: USD 200.

That is why an offering is usually requested: to help support the priest in his pastoral task and his daily life during those days (the offering is equivalent to what would be given for thirty individual Masses, one per day) and it is what a A priest, minimally, would use during the month to live: 200 dollars (or its equivalent in another currency), which is what the Holy See sets.

In the case of not being able to offer that money, something similar can be offered so that the priest can subsist during the month.

What are these offerings or stipends for?

The offering is intended to help priests who will pray Masses for that intention and for those of the Church. Likewise, it will help to collaborate with various missionary and apostolic projects.
